Pepper Spray Gun Comparison: Kimber PepperBlaster vs. s1 Salt Supply Pepper Spray Gun

The first pepper spray gun line we are going to compare against our s1 Pepper Spray Gun is the Kimber PepperBlaster line.  This is the product which we get the most inquiries about when it comes to comparing our product to other offerings, and as you read on, you will find that our pepper spray guns are extremely different.

Kimber America is a company best known for their line of traditional handguns and rifles.  According to their site, they were founded on sole purpose of building the finest sporting rifles ever offered in America.  In 2006, they introduced liquid pepper spray line called PepperBlasters. The PepperBlaster is essentially a liquid pepper spray in the format of a gun/pistol.  While this makes it more ergonomically easy to use in comparison to a handheld spray for some people, you are still getting similar outputs between canister pepper sprays and the PepperBlaster.

So let’s compare the major differences between the Kimber PepperBlaster and the s1 Pepper Spray Gun.

Liquid vs. Powder - The Kimber shoots a stream of liquid pepper spray, while the s1 shoots plastic shells filled with a powdered pepper spray and tear gas combination. The liquid pepper spray found in the PepperBlaster is similar to that found in the classic pepper spray canisters made popular during the 1990s. The powdered pepper spray and tear gas mixture found in s1’s rounds are the exact same formula used by the military and prison system to stop rioting prisoners.

Distance - The Kimber PepperBlaster is effective at 13 feet (that’s less than 5 paces). The s1 Pepper Spray Gun is effective at 150+ feet.

Shooter Contamination - Because the Kimber PepperBlaster is a liquid pepper spray that aerosolizes as soon as it leaves the nozzle of the gun, it starts to contaminate the air only 3 feet in front of you. At this distance, the pepper spray mist can easily blow back and affect you. The s1 Pepper Spray Gun’s powdered pepper spray and tear gas mixture is enclosed in plastic shells that do not break open until then hit there target up to 150+ feet away. While each round creates a debilitating 5 foot cloud at impact, as long as you are not shooting the gun at a point blank distance, contamination should not be an issue.

Price - The PepperBlaster is essentially a canister of liquid pepper spray in the format of a gun/pistol, so its price is very similar at $37.99. This is a great value if what you need is very short range “protection of last resort”. The s1 Pepper Spray Gun is a made for the military, so comes with higher stopping power and a higher price at $349.99. But like a lot of things in life, you get for what you pay for.

Thank you for sharing the comparison between the pepper spray guns. Interesting to know that there are “shells” out there made up of tear gas and pepper spray.
