CAN YOU SHIP TO COUNTRIES OUTSIDE OF THE US?
Currently, we do not offer the product outside of the US, however please subscribe to our website at www.saltsupply.com so we can keep you posted of international expansion in the future. If it is helpful, most airlines will allow for you to fly with the product, so if you are ever in the US we can ship it to the US address and you can carry it home. Please note, we have not researched all of the local laws of individual countries, so it would be up to you to check on local laws. If you do choose to fly with the product, please remove the CO2 cartridges from the kit as they can combust under pressure.
IS SALT LEGAL TO OWN? DO I NEED A BACKGROUND CHECK?
Owners of the Salt gun do not need to undergo background checks because there is no restriction due to the fact that the ATF does not classify the Salt Pepper Spray Gun as a firearm (with the exception of CA, where our product is illegal due to the chemical compound).
CAN I ORDER SALT IF I LIVE IN CALIFORNIA, NEW YORK, OR MASSACHUSETTS?
As with any new technology, there is no standard for regulation across the US yet. The good news is that we are working to get our country and state officials with us in opening the paths to make this safer alternative available to everyone. Because of this, we are technically illegal to own in California. You may still own Salt in New York and Massachusetts, however due to shipping restrictions on pepper sprays of all types we cannot ship directly to NY/MA.
DO I HAVE TO REGISTER MY SALT GUN?
No. The only area which requires registration of any kind is Washington DC (please inquire for details).
ARE THERE PLACES THAT PROHIBIT THE USE OF SALT?
The intended use for the Salt is in the home. That being said, you may find it useful in other environments, and our goal is for you to have a device that enables you to keep yourself and your loved ones safe at all times. This may mean that you choose to use the device in other settings. There are certain environments that prohibit the use of Salt. For example, commercial aircraft, federal and state owned buildings and other places with a security checkpoint. It’s a good idea to check restrictions on your destination beforehand, in order to avoid difficulty.
CAN YOU CARRY THE PRODUCT, AND IF SO, DOES IT HAVE TO BE CONCEALED?
Yes, because this product is not considered a firearm, you are able to carry it and it is not required to have it concealed.
HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE TO OWN THE PRODUCT?
In 38 states, there are no age restrictions. The following states require owners be at least 18: Alaska, Delaware, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Washington DC and Wisconsin. In the state of Washington, you can be 14 (with a parent’s permission) or 18 years old.
CAN A FELON OWN THE S1 PEPPER SPRAY GUN?
We have not researched all of the specific felony laws by state however, if you have any specific questions, we'd be happy to answer them. If it is helpful, we've had several felons interested in our products - and our s1 Pepper Spray gun does not require a license to own as it is not considered a firearm by the ATF. Our gun is air powered like paintball guns and bb guns to give you an idea of similar functioning guns - and, our rounds have pepper spray and tear gas agents in them. No, we are not. The mission of Salt is to keep the people you love safe. If a traditional firearm is the best safety device for you and your family, then we support you. But we also want to support the 2/3rds of American households who do not feel like a traditional firearm is the right choice for them.
