HOW RELIABLE IS A SALT GUN?

DO I HAVE TO DIRECTLY HIT AN INTRUDER FOR SALT TO WORK?

This is one of the best things about Salt. We designed it to be effective even if you don’t hit the target. That’s because being accurate when it’s dark and you are extremely agitated or scared is really, really hard. The round simply needs to rupture close enough to the area around an intruder for the resulting cloud of toxin to envelop them.

WHAT DO YOU DO AFTER THE SALT GUN IS USED ON AN INTRUDER?

Because of the several factors to consider in home invasion such as size of space, intruder vs. home owner height/weight/strength, home exit options, etc., we do not have a standard action we recommend following the use of our product because the number of possible situations is infinite.

ONCE THE ROUNDS EXPLODE, HOW LARGE OF SPACE DOES IT COVER?

Once a round explodes, it creates a 4-5' cloud of chemical compounds making it effective even if you miss your target. The chemical compounds are designed to hang in the air where they are easily inhaled to affect the lungs, can react with the moisture of the eyes, or adhere to the oils present on skin.

HOW LONG DOES THE CHEMICAL COMPOUND HANG IN THE AIR?

The chemical mixture will hang in the air between 3-5 minutes but could be up to 20 minutes depending on background air currents.

HOW LONG WILL A PERSON BE AFFECTED BY THE CHEMICAL COMPOUND?

The chemical response time is within seconds and will gradually diminish over 15-30 minutes depending on the exposure time and amount.

HOW DOES THE CHEMICAL COMPOUND AFFECT HUMAN SKIN?

SALT causes a burning sensation on any part of the skin that has any moisture or secretions, such as sweat or oil.

HOW EFFECTIVE IS THIS DEVICE?

WHAT IF THE INTRUDER IS WEARING A FACE COVERING?

​If the intruder is wearing a face covering, the overall effect will be affected because not as much of the chemical compound will be able to reach the eyes, nose and mouth. However, as the particles of the chemical are so small, unless the face covering is air tight, the particles will likely be able to travel inside the covering (in our testing, standard science goggles and medical masks were not able to fully protect a person). If the face covering is airtight, the particles will still affect the skin causing a burning sensation on any areas with moisture secretion such as sweat or oil.
